From numbers to novel ventures: an actuarial entrepreneurship panel discussion

This is a Scottish Actuaries Club organised CPD event to which all are welcome, including non-club members. The event will be chaired by Iain McLellan. He will be discussing with actuaries Roger Austin, David Robinson and Douglas Anderson who have either set up or been closely involved in setting up new ventures. Some of the new ventures have been in financial services while others have been in completely different sectors.
 
A discussion and Q&A will seek to explore such aspects as:

• what inspired the panel members to get involved in a start-up
• which actuarial skills they found particularly useful
• common ingredients for a successful start-up
• where and how to get funding
• the highs and lows of start-ups
• what advice they have for actuaries considering a start-up, either as a ‘side hustle’ or a career change

After the CPD is the Scottish Actuaries Club dinner being held at 10 Hill Place. New members are welcome. The dinner will be 19:00 for 19:30.
